When the Wind Blows, It's Grandpa - An Illustrated Children's Book about Death and Farewells
In our "Developmental Psychology IV - Palliative Care, Death and Suicide" course at the Psychology Faculty of Unisanta, we worked on a group project where each group had to produce an illustrated children's book centered on one of these 3 themes: Death of a significant person for the child, the child's own death, and organ donation. And our group chose the first theme!
In this project, we had the help of students from the Journalism course at Unisanta, with each group having the assistance of one student.
I had the pleasure of illustrating and writing part of the book's script, with the help of my group colleagues: Aline Borges, Carolina De Azevedo, and Giovanna Sanches. Most of the layout for this book was done by journalism student André Felipe, with my help and especially that of journalism professor Nara Assunção, who was also my professor in the then-Multimedia Production technology course at Unisanta!
This and all the other books made by our class can soon be found in the Santa Cecília University (Santos, Brazil) library and on a website still under development by the journalism students, which will have the PDF files available, so everyone can read to their children, or even for themselves, and learn that talking about death doesn't have to be taboo.
Thank you to everyone who gave me this opportunity!!!
Below are the cover, back cover, title page, introduction, and the illustrations I produced for the book!
